About this session
In today’s ever-changing world, people from diverse cultures and backgrounds are coming to live and work together. To serve customers and clients from diverse backgrounds, businesses are required to employ staff that can understand the needs of such clientele. Further, employers need to understand the needs of a diverse workforce, so that they are not faced with a constant revolving door of employees, which would result in low employee morale, lack of productivity and eventual lack of profitability.
For the past few decades, Canada has seen people immigrating to the country from all parts of the world. Included in these immigrants are a very large number of highly qualified individuals who are capable of serving clientele around the world. It is predicted that in the coming years, 33 percent of the new jobs in Canada will have to be filled by immigrants due to baby boomers beginning to retire and low Canadian birth rates. Organizations that want to succeed and prosper must be able to recruit, retain and successfully lead a multicultural workforce in the 21st century.
At the Orientation you will have the opportunity to learn about PMI, the designations, and our local chapter (Canadian West Coast Chapter). Also, you have the opportunity to give a one-minute introduction of yourself.

This year, the conference planning committee has implemented a number of exciting changes, including rolling out an updated event brand and theme: Dare to Innovate. Plan to Transform. PMI CWCC envisions the conference as a gathering of project management professionals from key industries throughout the west coast and British Columbia, including healthcare, public private partnerships, high tech, and construction.
This year, the conference will challenge attendees to embrace the change and disruption that is being faced by many industries and organizations. PMI CWCC has put together a program and event that will dare attendees to challenge the status quo and become agents of change, growth and innovation within their spheres of influence. In today’s rapidly changing environment, it is no longer about being a part of the pack, it’s about positioning yourself to lead this change in your teams and organizations. It is about pushing the limits that lead to transformation.
