Marina Villela is a dynamic and purpose-driven leader who serves as the Managing Director for Reaching Home at Vancity Community Foundation. With a steadfast commitment to her core values—accountability, authenticity and integrity —Marina is dedicated to demonstrating what is possible when one aligns with their true purpose. Her mission is to inspire others by embodying these principles in her work and interactions.
Marina’s career is distinguished by her extensive and progressive experience in leadership roles within the non-profit sector and with Indigenous partners. Her recent tenure with BC Housing Management Commission, spanning over a decade, saw her at the forefront of delivering impactful programs and services aimed at assisting communities historically denied equity. Throughout her career, Marina has successfully fostered productive relationships with various levels of government, non-profit organizations, and diverse communities, driving meaningful change and enhancing service delivery in agile environments.
A fervent advocate for continuous learning and purpose-driven change, Marina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science and maintains an impressive array of professional designations, including Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD), Project Management Professional (PMP), and Certified Canadian Administrative Professional (CCAP).
Her dedication to social contribution is further reflected in her active mentorship roles with Minerva BC, the Chartered Professional Human Resources BC & Yukon Professional Mentoring Program, and the Project Management Institute. Marina also serves on the Board of Directors for Richmond Caring Place and has recently been appointed as the Executive Director of Project Management Volunteers in Puget Sound, Washington, USA. In this role, she leads a team of project managers who offer pro bono project management services to nonprofits, amplifying their impact and supporting their missions.
Marina’s passion for fostering positive interaction and championing purpose-driven change continues to drive her work, inspiring those around her and making a tangible difference in the communities she serves.
