Q&A with Adam Kreek

1. What is the achievement you are the proudest of in your career?
Creating a thriving consultancy where I deliver over 40 keynotes and workshops per year and coach a select group of high performing executives.

2. In all the people you ever crossed path with, who left a lasting impression on you and why?
I have known many Prime Ministers, athletes, musicians, business moguls, gurus and authors. I’m impressed most by the people I meet who have a clear sense of purpose, who maximize the use of their intelligence while being driven by their hearts.

3. What is the first thing that came to your mind when your boat capsized in the Bermuda triangle during your transatlantic rowing expedition?
POOL PARTY!!! Where’s my inflatable flamingo??

4. How does it feel when your hard work pays off and you get to represent your country at the Summer Olympic Games? How do you cope with the stress, pressure and excitement?
I have strong faith that hard work, an applied mind and a spirit or adventure will unfold our best destiny. For me, being at the Olympics felt like it was supposed to happen.
One tool I used to cope with pressure and excitement was positive labeling. When we feel the stress response it means we care. We can say “This feels uncomfortable; I don’t like it” or we can say “Today is a very special day. I’m glad I care.” For more tools, come to my workshop. ;)

5. What one book has inspired you or one that you have recommended most?
I keep coming back to Steven Covey’s Classic “The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People”

6. Can you think of any failure that later set you up for success?
LOL. Many. Too many to mention. Life is not about being perfect. Life is about being active. If you’re not failing, you’re not anywhere near your potential.
