About this session

Delivering Real Time Next Bus http://m.translink.ca/ and the Compass applications program through an agile, iterative (Scrum) approach, TransLink was an early adopter of Agile in the Public Sector in Vancouver. Since then Agile has been firmly established and embedded into TransLink’s PMBOK-based IT Project Life Cycle Methodology.  With today’s rapid shift to the Cloud, an increased focus on Product (rather than Project) Management, and the onset of DevOps practices, the role of the Project Manager is being challenged.  How do we stay relevant?

This presentation (based on real life project examples) will cover the following:

  • Agile, agile, agility – what does this all mean for the PM practitioner?
  • Agile fundamentals for IT projects (Backlog, Scrum, Iterations, Minimum Viable Product)
  • The role of the Project Manager in an agile project (Lessons Learned from TransLink’s agile projects)  a full life cycle project perspective
  • How to embed agile practices into the Project Life Cycle Methodology
  • Criteria for selecting agile or “traditional” project approaches
  • Project Management, Product Management, DevOps – tangible advice for the PM “from the trenches” to face the Brave New Technology World of Today.
