About this session
Delivering Real Time Next Bus http://m.translink.ca/ and the Compass applications program through an agile, iterative (Scrum) approach, TransLink was an early adopter of Agile in the Public Sector in Vancouver. Since then Agile has been firmly established and embedded into TransLink’s PMBOK-based IT Project Life Cycle Methodology. With today’s rapid shift to the Cloud, an increased focus on Product (rather than Project) Management, and the onset of DevOps practices, the role of the Project Manager is being challenged. How do we stay relevant?
This presentation (based on real life project examples) will cover the following:
Dietmar Doerschlag - Manager IT PMO – TransLink
Dietmar Doerschlag is a Project Management Professional (PMP, MBA, CSM, ITIL, PROSCI) with 20+ years of experience in technology and business. He is passionate about using technology to run and transform the business and has successfully managed large and complex enterprise technology projects in Canada, US, Germany, Austria, and the UK. He has worked for large global enterprises in Construction, Manufacturing, and Transportation industries and has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. In his current role as Manager IT PMO at TransLink (since 2012) he oversees a dynamic team of 20 Project Managers and Project Coordinators in the delivery of 40 concurrent projects.
He project managed TransLink’s first agile project (Real Time Next Bus), introduced agile and OCM (PROSCI) practices into the Project Management Life Cycle, and established a mature and robust yet flexible PMBOK based project management methodology. He is well regarded for his ability to work in a fast pace environment, his strong communication skills, and his ability to build and maintain strong relationships across all levels of the organization in a multi-stakeholder environment.
