PMI New Membership Model – Key updates

This is our new PMI® Membership model, which bundles PMI and chapter memberships into a single, seamless offering.

This strategic shift enhances the value of PMI® Membership and invites PMI members into our global chapter community, fostering greater community connections. The goal is to support our chapters in their membership further, driving their growth and increasing chapter growth globally.

What are the benefits of this new membership model?

1. What is the single membership model, and how does it work?

The single membership model is a unified membership structure. By paying for a global PMI membership, you are automatically enrolled in your local PMI chapter (Home Chapter) and gain access to its benefits. This model streamlines the membership process and eliminates the need for separate chapter fees starting February 28, 2025.

While members will have a designated home chapter with specific benefits (like voting rights), they will also have access to services and programs across all PMI chapters worldwide, creating a more interconnected membership experience.

2. What is the new pricing structure?

• New members will pay $169 USD + tax for both global and local chapter membership.
• Manual renewals after February 28, 2025, will be $159 USD + tax.
• Auto-renewals for members whose membership expires in May 2025 will also reflect the new price.

3. Does this mean the local chapter will no longer charge separate membership fees?

Yes, the chapter fee is now included as part of your global PMI membership, so you no longer need to pay separately for chapter membership.

4. What benefits do I get as a PMI and my local chapter member under this new model?

You will continue to receive all the same local chapter benefits, including networking opportunities, professional development, events, and access to resources, all included with your global membership while gaining new opportunities as part of the expanded and unified membership model.

5. Will the local chapter still offer the same level of services and programs?

Yes, the local chapter will continue to offer the same services, programs, and events that support your professional growth and networking. This model makes the membership process more seamless, ensuring all PMI members are automatically included.

6. How does this change affect PMI’s certification programs or other PMI offerings?

This change is specific to the membership structure and will not affect PMI’s certification programs, resources, or global events. You can still pursue certifications like PMP, CAPM, and others as usual.

7. What does this mean for new members who want to join PMI?

New members will automatically be enrolled in PMI and their local chapter when they sign up for a PMI membership. They will receive the full benefits of both without needing to pay separate fees or sign up for the local chapter separately.

8. How will this change affect the local chapter’s ability to plan and execute events?

The chapter will continue to provide high-quality events and resources for members. While funding is now incorporated into the global membership, the local chapter will continue to receive support and resources from PMI to carry out events, outreach programs, and networking opportunities.

9. Will this affect the local chapter’s volunteer opportunities?

No, local chapter volunteer opportunities will still be available to all members, and they will be promoted through the chapter’s communication channels. Volunteers will continue to be essential in supporting local initiatives, events, and member engagement.

10. What happens if I am a student or member with a special membership type?

Student members and others with specialized membership types will be included in the new structure and continue to receive the benefits specific to their category and access to local chapter resources at no additional cost.
