Kara Kearby has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Emphasis in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration from Texas A&M University. Her passion for project management developed while working for the Construction Engineer that built the stadium she worked for after graduating. In 2009, she was hired by VANOC to be the Overlay Manager for the 2010 Winter Olympic games for Hockey Canada Place. This opportunity combined her love for sports, project management, and construction, motivating her to complete her PMP designation and to obtain a certificate in MS Project. She has over 13years experience of managing large scale events and is currently the Event Manager at Rogers Arena, Vancouver's premier sports and entertainment facility. Kara is excited to volunteer in the role of Conference Director at this event that seeks to support project managers in our community on their journey of continuing education and professional development.

Carl is a project manager and designer who looks after all aspects of marketing and web related initiatives. Some of his experience in the past 10 years include managing 20 events, developing more than 300 microsites and launching over 1000 print advertisements. Being a PMP and Scrum practitioner who loves to learn, Carl draws on his educational background in marketing, graphic design, web design, eCommerce, analytics and project management to deliver successful projects. Rafael is an experienced IT professional (over 18 years), working mainly in the system development field. During his successful career, he worked as Software Developer, Business System Analyst, Project Manager and IT Manager. Rafael is proud to say he has had many accomplishments and has made several friends. He was also partner of an IT company for 6 years, strengthening his business administration skills. Regarding Project Management, Rafael has over 10 years of experience and managed around 70 projects. Most of projects were delivered achieving the main parameters (scope, time and cost) and stakeholder satisfaction. He arrived in Vancouver in January/2016 to study "Internet and Web Technology" at Langara College, program which he graduated in August/2017. He has worked as IT Product Manager (also Project Manager) in an IT company in North Vancouver since June/2017. His favourite hobbies are playing piano/keyboard, tennis, snowboarding, hiking/long walks and read novels / philosophy. Passionate about cats, Rafael supports two organizations which save and look after big cats, like lions and tigers.

Afroza is a certified Project Management Professional, with 10+ years of experience in technology and business. She have the opportunity to perform wide variety of financial activities including project related work and provide technical and professional leadership across business group, also involve with developing and implementing related policies, strategies, processes, standards and procedures. Afroza obtained her Masters of Commerce in Accounting and Professional Diploma in Network Centric Computing from Bangladesh. She has been with the Canadian West Coast Chapter since 2015 and volunteering for the Programs. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, spending time cooking with family and friends, experiencing arts and culture. Afroza love to learn new things, every year she sets new goal for learning or doing new things that she never have done before. She believes that no experience is wasted - it will always come back to help in the future.
Jordon Fernandez

Jordon is a 4th year Simon Fraser University student in the Interactive Arts and Technology program with plans to enter the media sector. In a program that focuses a lot on projects, he thought it only made sense that he learned about Project Management as well, to give him an edge at school. An apprentice in the Project Management Apprenticeship Program, Jordon is eager to learn more about PMI, and excited to blend his love of media and videos with the craft of project management.

Joe has a Bachelors of Human Kinetics, a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy, and a Diploma in Business Management. He's worked in a variety of industries including Healthcare, Hospitality, IT, and Management. Joe is currently working as a Project Coordinator in the language technology field managing several remote data collection projects. Being a part of the Project Management Apprenticeship Program, Joe is excited to contribute towards the conference and take the challenge in a new industry.
Dustin Procee

Dustin recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University with the aspiration of post-graduate work. He stays active by being involved in the Vancouver community through participation with various non-profit organizations, such as the CWCC Project Management Apprenticeship Program (PMAP). He has served as a mentor with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and recently served as the founding President of the Alpha Kappa Psi, Chi Theta, chapter at SFU.
